Stay at Home Book Tag

Well, we’re still here. I’m still stuck in my house and, for the most part, America is still in quarantine. So I figured I might as well do another book tag themed around staying at home. This one was originally created by Princess of Paperback on Youtube, and looked like a perfect tag to do during this time.

As always, I’m not tagged and I’m not tagging anyone, but I would love for you to do this tag so I can read your answers.

Laying in Bed – book you could/have read in a day

You’re probably sick of hearing me talk about this comic series, but I love Tintin! I have definitely binge read more than one of these comics in a day. This particular one just happens to be my favorite.

Snacking – guilty pleasure book

I don’t know if this counts as a guilt pleasure read, but it is one of those books that I know is poorly written (I might even categorize it as YA romantic trash), but I still enjoy it. It’s got murder, weirdly cliched romance, and unplanned humor.

Netflix – series you want to start

I’m just in the mood to binge read historical mysteries, actually. I already the Lady Emily series (though I didn’t enjoy the second book, so I probably won’t continue), and this is the next one I want to start, a historical series set in the 1870’s.

Deep Clean – been on your TBR for ages

There are quite a few books which have been on my TBR for ages, and I’ve talked about a bunch of them. I don’t think I mentioned this one, about a monk who arrives at a monastery where he must solve bizarre deaths. I tried starting this book a couple times, but I haven’t been in the right mood. I will eventually finish it though!

Animal Crossing – book you recently bought because of hype

I bought this book last year. Usually, I am very careful researching a book before I buy it, because I don’t want to spend money on a book I read once and then give away. But this book is one I bought merely because of the hype. I found it at the Goodwill for like $3, so I figured even if I end up disliking it, it’s not like I’m out a ton of money.

Productivity – book you learnt or had an impact on you

I got into Shakespeare when I was fourteen or so (which seems a bit young for such a hard author to read). I loved his writing, but he was also the first writer that really challenged my understanding of the English language. Because of his plays, I felt I could tackle any book, no matter how hard. He was one of the first classic authors I got into, and because of him I read so many classics now.

Facetime – A book you were gifted

I was given this book by a friend for Christmas, and it’s filled with short stories by some of my favorite classic authors. I haven’t been able to read through it all yet, but I’m working on it.

Self Care – what is one thing you have done recently to look after yourself

Sewing! Especially since quarantine has started, I’ve been able to do so much sewing, especially projects I’ve wanted to do that I haven’t had time for. I’ve already sewn a summer shirt, an embroidered pillowcase, nearly half a quilt, added a pocket to a skirt, and taken in a too big shirt, all by hand. It’s so relaxing.

BONUS – name a book coming out soon

Every book I have read by Fredrik Backman I have loved, and I wanted to read more. He has an eerie understanding about human emotion and pain. This book is set to be released in English on Sep. 8, 2020. It was technically released in Sep. 2019 in Swedish, but I’m still counting it. I’ve already pre-ordered it from the library.
