Boyfriend Booktube Tag

I saw this tag over on Youtube and so I decided to force my boyfriend (he did agree to do it) to try to do this tag with me. This is a tag created by Myonna Reads over on Youtube. Its whole point is to test a booktubers’ boyfriend’s (or significant other’s) knowledge of reading and my tastes in books. On Youtube I did this on Saturday with my boyfriend, so it’s going to be a bit weird to transcribe it into blog format, but I’m going to transcribe his answers. If you want to actually hear his answers, I’ll post the video on the end of this post.

The lines in regular font will be his, while the ones italicized in parenthesis are my commentary.

1. How long have we been dating?

Answer: 1 year, 2 months and 27 days.

(yes, he did get that exact, lol.)

2. Are you a reader?

Answer: I used to be, and I’m starting to read a lot more. I used to read a couple books a week and now I only read about a book a month.

(he’s definitely a reader, but he doesn’t read as much as I do.)

3. What Hogwarts House are you?

Answer: Well, Slytherin, of course.

(he’s definitely a Slytherin, while I’m a Ravenclaw…wonder if that pairing works.)

4. What is my most anticipated book this year or next year?

Answer: thinking…Nope, I don’t remember.

(While I did just have a blog post come out about a few of my anticipated books, I don’t usually get really excited about news books or hyped, so I can’t blame him for not knowing.)

5. What is the last book I read?

Answer: I didn’t talk to him about this one, so he couldn’t answer it.

(For the record, as of us filming it, the book was Fragments of the Lost by Megan Miranda, which was a thriller I had to read for my book club.)

6. What is my favorite book?

Answer: He didn’t know this one as well, though I have a lot of favorite books.

(The one I most commonly give, though, is Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoyevsky. It’s at least in my top 5 books of all time.)

7. What is my favorite book genre?

Answer: Romance, right? I hit him. And finally…Historical

(Ding ding! This is right. My favorite genre is historical, whether historical fiction or historical nonfiction. I love anything in history, whether its a classic or a modern book about history.)

8. How much time do I usually spend reading?

Answer: I’m not here all day, but I would say three hours a day.

(I’m giving this to him as right, though I’m sometimes all over the place with reading. Some days I read six hours, some days I read one, though on average it’s probably three so I’ll give it to him.)

9. What is one thing you notice about my reading habits (i.e. watching TV, listening to music, etc.)

Answer: You sit in the corner, usually on the floor. There’s definitely been a time where she’s texted me and I’ll be like, “What are you doing.” She’ll say, “Oh, I’m sitting under my bed reading.” I’m like, uh, okay. She likes reading in a bunch of random places.

(um…this is true…)

10. What book should I read soon?

Answer:

Malice (The Faithful and the Fallen, #1)

(He’s super into this series, so it makes sense that he would recommend this. And I did say I wanted to read more fantasy this year, so maybe…)

11. What book would you consider reading?

Answer:

A Time of Dread (Of Blood and Bone, #1)

(He wants to start this series next, it’s set in the same world as The Faithful and the Fallen series.)

12. Superhero or supervillain?

Answer: Antihero

(That’s my Zach, always thinking outside of the box.)

13. Define these terms:

Booktube: Youtube but for people who read books. (Right!)

Reading Slump: When you don’t feel like reading anymore and you take a little break. (True!)

TBR: To Be Read. (He’s so smart!)

Wrap-up: Like a group of similar books. (Nope, but I guess I can understand why he would think that.)

Read-a-thon: I can put read and marathon together. You just read a lot of books in a row. (Right again, though I added in a short time.)

Reading vlog: What we’re doing right now. (Yep, technically, but it might also be defined as just day in a life of a reader reading.)

So, that’s the end of the challenge! I thought it was a fun tag to do with someone, especially since I’ve never had a guest star on my blog before!

Have you done this tag, or read any of the books we talked about? How would your significant other answer? Let me know your thoughts down in the comments, follow my blog for more musings and, as always,

Best wishes in your life full of adventure,

Madame Writer
