I was going through some of my old posts the other day, just to get ideas for new posts, and I discovered my post on My Favorite Book Quotes #1. I looked at the date and realized I haven’t done one of these posts in over a year, since February 19, 2018, to be exact. I find I do this often, where I come up with an interesting blog series and promptly forget about it.
But since it’s been over a year, I thought it is time to share with you some of my favorite quotes. But this one is going to be a bit different. Instead of taking my favorite quotes of all time, I’m going to be looking at my favorite quotes from the books I’ve read since January (so about three months worth of books). Usually, when I’m reading and I find a quote I like, I copy it down in my bullet journal under that month. A lot of these books you may have seen me review in the last couple months. So let’s get into it!
“How could an idiotic universe have produced creatures whose mere dreams are so much stronger, better, subtler than itself?”– C.S. Lewis, Letter in A Severe Mercy
“Those who are quick in talking are not always quick in listening. Sometimes even their brilliancy produces a sort of stupidity.”– G.K. Chesterton, “The Oracle of the Dog”
“Sometimes you are too clever to understand men, especially when they act almost as simply as animals.”– ibid
“We are the dead. Our only true life is in the future. We shall take part in it as handfuls of dust and splinters of bone.”– George Orwell, 1984, Part 2, Chapter 8
“Only the man who is unmoved by any sensations, the wise man indifferent to pleasure, to pain, is fit for becoming deathless.”– Bhagavad Gita
“…I cannot quite understand why a man should wish to know more people than he can make real friends of.”– C.S. Lewis, Surprised by Joy
“It is to be deplored that so few of us really take pains to study the moods of the masters. In our stubborn ignorance we refuse to render them this simple courtesy, and thus often miss the rich repast of beauty spread before our very eyes.”– Okakura Kakuzo, The Book of Tea
There are my favorite quotes from the books I’ve read in the last three months. I’m hoping to do one of these posts every few months, depending on how many quotes I find. It’s a lot of fun to collect quotes from the books you read.
What are your favorite quotes from books? What are your thoughts on any of these quotes? Which one is your favorite? Some of them are weird, I know, but I find them all to be fascinating. Let me know your thoughts in the comments, follow my blog for more musings and, as always,
Best wishes in your life full of adventure,
