So…this week didn’t go so well with this challenge. I didn’t finish any more books, and I ended up DNFing two I was going to read.
Terrier by Tamora Pierce goes straight into my DNF pile. I got about fifty pages in and I realized I could not stand Beka, the protagonist. I used to love Tamora Pierce as a pre-teen and teen, but maybe I’ve grown out of her writing style. But technically, I did read 50 out of 584 pages.
And then I started reading Claudius the God by Robert Graves. It follows the Roman emperor Claudius in first person, through his eyes, but I found it so boring. I may try to read it again in a few years, but not now. I only got about 10 out of 533 pages. This one also goes into my DNF pile, though unlike the last one, I may come back to it.
I did not read any more of The Canterbury Tales by Chaucer…I have no excuses.
And finally, I started Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. I’m currently 209 pages in out of 619. So, again, not great. And I absolutely can’t stand Pip, but I am determined to finish it.
Now that I have two less books on my list, I need to find two substitutes…I’m still looking. As you can tell, this challenge is going less than ideally. I think it’s mostly because I’m still reading other books from the library (since they have a due date so I’m forced to prioritize them) and so my tomes get left behind.
But I’m not giving up! Even if I just finish three out of the five books by December 23, I’ll be happy!
Best wishes in your life full of adventure,
