We are a little over a week into NaNo. My writing has been going…okay. It isn’t as good as previous NaNoWriMo’s have been, but it also isn’t horrible. I’m behind, but not too far behind. Here are my daily updates since Day 3.
Chapter 2 – 0 words
Chapter 2 – 1,417
Chapter 3 – 1,134 (total 2,551)
Chapter 3 – 646
Chapter 3-4 – 2,056
Total Word Count: 10,707
As you can probably tell, my writing is still inconstant. I’ll write a lot one day, and write barely anything the next.
But as for my story, it’s going pretty well. I’ve worked out a lot of the major plot points I needed to know before getting to the middle of the story, though I’m still not sure how it’s going to end. Also, I’m keeping the ghosts ambiguous. There is always the question in the book of whether the ghosts are real or not. But it’s definitely turning into more of a mystery instead of a horror. Ah, well, I suppose mysteries are my favorite genre to read, so it would make sense I would write this book as a mystery
Now that I have already completed NaNoWriMo, I feel as if I want to focus more on a good quality first draft instead of rushing through it like I did for my last two NaNoWriMo’s. Thus, I’m less concerned about completing the 50,000 word goal and instead on crafting a mostly good story. I probably shouldn’t be predicting it this soon, but I think I probably won’t complete the word count but will get a lot of writing done this month.
Also, I’m giving up on studying French, at least for now, and focusing on just Polish and Korean. I find it’s good to start off slow with languages, and maybe in six months I’ll add French in again. And maybe Chinese, which is also on the top of my list of languages to learn!
I’m also trying to read more this month, so expect a lot of book reviews coming your way. In the meantime, I’m going to get back to writing!
How is the month going for you guys, whether with NaNo or with your reading? It snowed for the first time this week here in Minnesota, but what is the weather like where you are? Let me know your thoughts down in the comments, follow my blog for more madness and, as always,
Best wishes in your life full of adventure,
