Day 15: Favorite male character
There are so many amazing male characters…it’s hard to choose! Oddly enough, the first who comes to mind first is…
Sydney Carton – The Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens
What I love about Sydney Carton is that he is imperfect, bordering on a villain. And yet, in the end, he gives up his life in exchange for Charles Darnay, because the woman he loves loves Darnay. It’s the perfect example of love. Love is about sacrifice, and Carton is willing to sacrifice his own life for the happiness of the woman he loves.
I read this book ages ago and it was for school so I completely forgot about any characters. Might have to reread this soon!

I read it in high school too. Though it’s not my favorite Dickens’s book, I really liked it!

And from my perspective, the main characters Lucy( I can’t remember her name clearly) and Charles are kind of ideal and flat.

Yes, I agree. Lucy was the perfect, demure girl and Charles the moral, upright man. Neither of them were developed well.

I love him too!
What Carton says at the end of the book is really touching! As for me, it’s more impressive than the first famous quote of the book.
