Day 12: A book you love but hate at the same time
I don’t have a book that I love and hate…that seems a bit weird. Though, there is a book I can think of that I love, but rationally I’ll admit it’s a poorly written book…
This is a YA teen mystery/romance set in the Regency era in England. It follows a young woman’s presentation to society and the mystery and romance that ensues. It’s clichéd, predictable, and frustrating, but I first read it when I was about fourteen and I’ve loved it ever since.
We all have these books, I guess. We’re so impressionable when we’re young, and at an age when we don’t even know what clichés mean! Howard’s Conan stories were one of my earliest loves, but today, I can hardly read them without vomiting. 😀
Also, why didn’t I realise before that you were doing such a fun challenge? I look forward to a lot of these!

Thanks! I remember trying to read Conan as well and it was pretty bad. However, the pictures are sometimes quite lovely, so it’s not all bad.

Ah, yes. Do you remember the artist? Frazetta? I had a big two-volume omnibus version that wasn’t illustrated…

Wow! I didn’t know there was an unillustrated version. That’s cool.

Sometimes I find what I enjoyed as a teenager kind of childish and pathetic when I reread them.
By the way, What does cliqued mean? I consult the dictionary but I’m still confused😂

Oops, that was a typo! It was supposed to be ‘cliched’ (meaning there is nothing unique about it). I must have missed it in edits. Thanks for noticing it!

Never mind. We all make typos from time to time. And thank you, I get a new expression!(。ò ∀ ó。)
