Camp NaNoWriMo 2018: Day 14

Today is Saturday, which tends to be a rather busy day for me, so I will confess I didn’t get quite as much writing as I was hoping I would. Saying that, I still got my wordcount done, but I didn’t get ahead as I have been doing for the last week.

For reference, I will probably be taking Sunday off tomorrow. It’s really helpful for me to have one day a week off. I can take time to ruminate about where I want the story to go next as well as just rest my creative mind.

I haven’t been asking this, but for those who are doing this challenge, how are you doing? Do you think it’s more difficult to complete this challenge in November or in July? I’m curious to hear your thoughts.

Daily Summary

Words written today: 1,740

Total words written: 30,573/50,000

Goal words needed: 22,582/50,000

Difference: 7,991 ahead of schedule

Current chapter: Chapter 9

Time spent writing: 1.5 hours

Current weather: Hot and sunny!

Tips: When writing, never second think yourself. Go with your instinct. If you have an idea for a scene, write it, don’t go through all the positives and negatives of writing that scene. You can figure that out later in rewrites.

Extra notes: Is it just me, or do you drink a lot more water in summer? I feel like I’ve been drinking way too much lemon water recently.

Day 14 complete! See you tomorrow!

  1. It’s odd, but as this is my first time doing NaNo in July I find it easier to do it in July than November for some reason. Maybe it’s the longer days so I feel like there’s more daylight for me to write or maybe it’s the story I’m writing which takes place in the Spring/Summer so it’s easier to relate to haha.

    1. I’m finding that too. Last November I was constantly falling behind or staying just on schedule, but this month I’m having an easier time getting ahead. I’m not sure the reasons either, but I’m glad your story is going well. Good luck!
