Book Adaptation Tag

I’ve talked about book adaptions in other blog posts, so I thought it fitting to do a book tag centered around this topic. I discovered this particular tag here, though I have no idea if this is the original or not. This looked so much fun and, as always, I was not tagged and I’m not tagging anyone, but if you’d like to do it I’d love to know your answers.

1. What is the last book adaptation movie you saw?

Murder on the Orient Express (I wrote a review for it).

2. What book movie are you most excited for?

Crazy Rich Asians (I have not read the book, but after seeing the trailer I want to)

3. Which upcoming book movie will you definitely NOT see?

The Jungle Book (really, they made another one of these…why would I waste my time?)

4. Which book movie would you NEVER watch again?

The Great Gatsby (2013) (hated the book, hated the movie)

5. Is there a movie you saw that made you want to read the book, if you hadn’t yet?

Silence of the Lambs (I read the book only after loving the movie)

6. Conversely, is there a movie that made you never want to read the book?

I Am Legend (what a horrible movie…not sure if the book is better)

7. Name an adaptation that has almost nothing to do with the book it’s supposedly based on.

Howl’s Moving Castle (though, in this case, I love both the book and the movie)

8. Have you ever left the theater during a movie adaptation because it was so bad?

No, but then I usually wait until the movie comes out on DVD to watch it. I’m not a fan of theaters.

9. Do you prefer to watch the movie first or read the book first?

Usually reading the book first, but I end up doing the opposite because I rarely know a movie is based on a book.

10. How do you feel about movie adaptations that age characters up? (ex. characters that are in middle-school, but in the movies they’re all 18)

Sometimes it’s necessary (just look at Game of Thrones), but other times it’s just to add silly romance, which I dislike.

11. Do you get angry when the actors don’t look like you thought the characters looked?

No, because I realize everyone sees a character differently.

12. Is there a movie you liked better than its book?

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (this is probably an unpopular opinion, but I really liked the movie and hate the first book)

13. Name a book that you would love to see as a movie.

The Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes Series by Laurie R. King (seriously, why haven’t they made a movie/tv series for these books?)

Let me know your thoughts about these books and movies. Do you agree with my answers, or totally disagree? What are your answers to these questions? Let me know your thoughts down in the comments, follow my blog for more madness and, as always,

Best wishes in your life full of adventure,

Madame Writer
