If you guys didn’t know, today is Teacher Appreciation Day. It’s been a few years since I’ve been in school, but there is still one teacher that I want to take the time to thank and that is my teacher all the way from kindergarten to the end of high school.
And that is my mother.
I know what you’re thinking…of course my mom taught me a lot because she, well, raised me. But it was more than that.
My mom was my only teacher until college because I was homeschooled.
I know. So many people have opinions about homeschooling, but I think it was beneficial to me (being an introvert and super opinionated). Because I was homeschooled, I had the time to read and write.
I read pretty much only classics for school (I was amazed to learn that typical modern schools teach books like The Diary of a Wimpy Kid) and my mom worked with me to find my best learning.
And because of homeschooling, I was able to excel when I went to college (I received nothing lower than an A in any class and left college with a 4.0 GPA). I may sound like I’m bragging, but I contribute my success entirely to my mother homeschooling me. Without her instilling a love of writing and learning, I would not have even thought to start a blog or write.
So, thank you, Mom, for turning me from an inanimate piece of blubber to an intelligent, rational human being!
Who do you want to thank this Teacher Appreciation Day? Let me know down in the comments, follow my blog for more madness, and, as always,
Best wishes in your life full of adventure,
