I’ve been kind of conflicted about what content to provide on my blog recently. I love writing top nine lists and writing tips and tricks, but I also want to incorporate more book reviews. I read a lot (too much: I read probably about two to three books a week), and I have a lot of opinions on the stuff I read.
But I also don’t want to post less tips and lists in order to add more book reviews.
Thus, I have a special announcements. Since starting my blog about a year ago, I’ve kept to a weekly posting schedule. However, starting in the first week of December, I will be posting twice a week (get excited). Saturday posts will remain how they always have been (focusing on history, literature, and writing), while Wednesday posts will strictly be book reviews.
Saying this, if there’s any books (new or old) you’d like to recommend for me to read and review, let me know.
Now, unto the second big news, which is also going to disrupt my schedule. This has to do with NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). If you don’t know what this is, it’s a yearly challenge to writers to write an entire book (admittedly a short one at 50,000 words) in the month of November.
I’ve never actually tried to do this challenge (every book I’ve written has been completed over months and years and never a single month). Saying that, this year I’m going to try that. In doing so, during the month of November I will be posting daily updates of writing a book, from my first idea to my the last page (hopefully). Like I’ve said, I’ve never finished a book in a month (in fact, I have no idea what I’m going to write yet), so this is going to feel weird for me. But I figure posting updates on my blog with essentially encourage me to continue.
If you’re doing NaNoWriMo, keep me up-to-date. I’d love to know as the month progresses how you guys are succeeding. Again, I doubt very much I’ll complete a book, but why not try? Are you planning to participate in NaNoWriMo this year? Let me know down in the comments and, as always,
